Chardonnay
This is America’s favourite wine. From the amateur to the connoisseur, everyone loves this dry wine. Pinot Grigio
This white wine is an all time Italian favourite. It is carefully crafted from special Pinot Grigio or Pinot Gris grape. This white wine is light flavoured and has a crisp in itself. Native to the northeast part of Veneto and Friuli, the Pinot Grigio should be drunk early. It is available in melon, pear and tropical fruits flavor and has a smooth overtone. This wine falls on the acidic side and thus tastes best when complemented with light flavoured pastas, seafood or cheese with crackers.

Riesling
The Riesling wine is something that is native to the Rhein and the Mosel rivers in Germany. This wine is very popular in the white wine market and is much favoured by connoisseurs. The original Rieslings are Johannisberg Riesling and White Riesling because they are the only ones prepared by original Riesling grapes. You can get your Riesling any way you prefer – dry or sweet. The dry Rieslings are labelled “tocken” and the sweet variety is known as “Auslese”. You can get this white wine in flavours of apple, peach and pear. The undertones are also myriad – from floral to mineral. Riesling wine can be consumed with spicy Asian food, pork, fish, appetizers and desserts.

Sauvignon Blanc
The Sauvignon Blanc hails from the Loire Valley of France. However, the grape that is the constituent of this white wine is also grown in Marlborough, New Zealand. It is a dry white wine whose French variety has grand herbal tones while the New Zealand variety has tropical fruit and gooseberry flavours. The best thing about this wine is that it has a refreshing crispness that goes well with many kinds of food. Ideally, you can have your Riesling wine with vegetable dishes, artichoke dip, Thai food, Greek or Caesar salads and sushi.

There is nothing quite so exquisite as fresh shellfish or fish, piping hot and prepared excellently. Whether you are trying out a grilled lobster recipe or a baked tilapia recipe, you need to remember to cook for safety as well as for flavor. There are frequent warnings about food contamination so it can sometimes be difficult to relax and enjoy your fish dinner. As long as you are well informed, you will find that fish safety is easier that you thought. A little knowledge about fish and seafood safety means you can continue enjoying your baked fish recipes to your heart’s content.

When you buy fish at the farmer’s market or supermarket, examine the fish well. Fresh shellfish and fish do not smell. If the fish smells oily or fishy, choose a different one. The eyes on a fresh fish are clear and protrude a bit. Staler fish have sunken or cloudy eyes. The skin around the eyes should not be yellow or brown. The fish’s flesh must be firm and shiny and the gills should not have discharge in them. If you have any doubts about a fish, do not buy it.

When you are shopping, make sure the fish counter is the last place you visit. The less time your fish has to spend at room temperature, the better. You can ask the cashier to double-bag the fish and package it away from other foods. This ensures the juices of the fish do not spill out and contaminate other food items.

When you are preparing your fish recipes at home, you need to keep the fish cutting board and fish knives away from the vegetables unless you have washed them in hot, soapy water. Some people use different cutting boards and knifes for vegetables, fish and meats, to avoid any contamination.

Never place cooked food on an unwashed plate where raw meat, fish, or poultry has been. The bacteria might contaminate the cooked food. A food thermometer can tell you with total accuracy whether food is safe to eat. You cannot do this with sight alone.

Crockpot Chicken Thigh Dishes – Frugal and Scrumptious

If you are looking for a healthy and inexpensive source of protein, give chicken thighs a try. They are inexpensive, very tasty and quite healthy. One of the best ways to prepare them is to slow cook them. There are all sorts of different crockpot chicken thigh recipes out there and you can often substitute boneless skinless thighs for chicken breast. The meat is just as good for you and much more economical.

Here are some of my favorite healthy slowcooker recipes that use chicken thighs.

Dinner Option 1 – Crock Pot Chicken Thigh Stroganoff

Eight boneless, skinless chicken thighs
1 carton (16 ounces) of fat free sour-cream
1 envelop of onion soup mix
1 can cream of mushroom soup

Start by combining the can of soup, the soup mix and the sour cream in a small bowl. Put the chicken in the crockpot, then pour the mixture over it. Cook on low for about 6 hours or until the chicken starts to fall apart. Serve the chicken of cooked white rice or noodles.

Dish #2 – Crockpot Coke Chicken

6 to 8 chicken thighs
One cup of catsup
One cup of your favorite cola
One large onion – sliced
A little pepper and salt

Season the chicken thighs with a pinch of pepper and a pinch of salt. Lay the thighs in the bottom of your slowcooker. Add the onion slices. Mix the ketchup and cola together and pour it over the chicken. Let everything cook on the lowest setting for 6 to 8 hours or until the chicken is completely cooked. Take out any bones and shred the chicken before pouring it over white rice.

For a lower calorie dish use low-carb catsup and diet coke.

Dish #3 – Thai Crockpot Chicken

6 chicken thighs
1 large can diced tomatoes (32 oz)
1/3 cup of peanut butter (all natural if possible)
1 bell pepper (sliced)
1 onion (sliced)
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
Salt and pepper to taste

Start by layering the onion and peppers in the bottom of the crockpot. Top with your chicken thighs, adding salt and pepper to taste. Combine the rest of the ingredients and pour them over the chicken. Turn your slowcooker on the low setting and let everything cook for about eight hours.
We like this best over steamed rice.

To make a complete meal out of any of the recipes above add a side salad or some steamed veggies. Steamed broccoli is a family favorite with any of these.

Must Do

To get an inside view of the University, join the Orange Key tour. This free, hour-long tour starts at the Frist Campus Center, which is home to libraries, study spaces, cafeterias and more. The tour then winds through campus, covering important academic as well as residential buildings. Don’t miss the impressive University Chapel, which is the third largest university chapel in the world. When you’re admiring the stained glass windows, watch out for the little statue sporting sunglasses at the entrance. Also, keep an eye out for Blair Arch, featured numerous times in Russell Crowe’s film, A Beautiful Mind. You might even see the protagonist, Professor John Nash, walking around campus.

The tours are run by students who will point out little details that you would miss if you were to wander around on your own. Find out why there is a cannon buried in the center of Cannon Green, and why students tried to steal the clapper out of the bell at every opportunity. The student tour guides are very friendly, and will oblige if you ask them for more college lore.

After the tour, head to the art museum at McCormick Hall, which, though small, houses some excellent pieces, including Monets, Picassos, and more. Don’t miss the Asian Art section in the basement.

Avoid

Princeton’s academic calendar runs from September to the start of June, with a three-week break for Christmas in December. For an authentic feel of campus life, try to avoid visiting during the summer and winter break.

Good Eats

For a taste of student life, head to the cafeteria in the Frist Campus Center, which was voted as the Best Food Court by the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in 2002. Alternatively, head into Princeton town for some excellent and cheap sushi at Sakura. Don’t miss Princeton’s favorite ice cream store, The Bent Spoon, and drop by the local microbrewery, Triumph, for a taste of their Honey Oat beer.

Homemade Chocolate Delight Recipe

You can make a good chocolates at home. The process may be complex but there is always room for mastery. There are many machines and processes to produce chocolate from the cocoa bean. All of which can be copied at home, given the right materials, right attitude and right information. The following steps should be followed at home:

1. Cracking The Cacao Beans

Gather a bunch of cacao beans and make sure to know what type it is. The key here is to heat the beans at high temperature and slowly lower it to a stop when the beans create a crack. Be notified that you are not to burn the beans. The time to heat the beans will depend on the type of beans you are using.
Place the beans in a layer of cookie sheet. Try to evenly arrange the beans so that there is no overlapping for even heating. Roast the beans in the oven for 20 min at about 20 degrees Celsius.

2. Cracking And Nibbling The Cacao Shells

After the beans starts to get cracked up, you can stop heating it. Let it cool. This is the time to crack and remove the shells. You can use a hammer in cracking the shells. Make sure to remove the husks around it.

3. Grinding The Cacao Nibs

This process can’t be done easily by manual equipment. It needs more powered grinders in order to liquefy the cacao nibs. On the other hand, you can still use mortar and pestles and coffee grinders, though you have to do the grinding for a longer period of time. It’s not worth the worry for the thought of having the liquefied chocolate.

4. Filtering The Liquefied chocolate

Removing the unwanted particles in the liquid chocolate is the next step. This process can be referred to as filtering at the same time refining the taste and quality of the chocolate. There are a lot of ways in order to do this process. You can chose one whichever you prefer executable.

5. Softening The Chocolate

In this step, your passion for making a chocolate will be proven. Softening the chocolate is not an easy task. It needs gentle yet firm hands to mold. The key to this process is to create a chocolate bar that will have smooth texture and right tension. So once you failed to smooth one, there is always another try and an endless practice for perfection.
Be reminded that you would not want to add water when you do the smoothing process. As you can comprehend, water is not a good partner of chocolate bar.

6. Detailing The Chocolate

Detailing the chocolate is your chance to apply your artistic nature and give the chocolate its figure. You can use a molding material you have prepared to mold the chocolate. However, there are different techniques in molding which I leave for you to research.
